Money Saving Ideas

I thought I would do a quick post on tips for money saving ideas. I have always been a shopaholic and if it’s there it’s burning a hole in my purse and needs to be spent. But since buying our first house and having a baby I have started to learn to curb that need to spend and also the importance of savings. Im not talking huge amount of savings but it’s nice to have a couple of hundred in a separate account incase the washing machine brakes or the car needs fixing and you’re not panicking wondering where to find the money.

These are just a few tips I have learnt along the way, hope they help.

Quidco

I love quidco, whatever I am buying I always do a little check on there first to see if they offer a deal or cashback. I get the best cashback around Christmas because I tend to do most of my shopping online – there’s nothing worse than going shopping in the city centre around Christmas time. When I was pregnant also I did a lot of online shopping also. If you haven’t signed up to Quidco yet then do because it’s literally money for nothing. I have a referral link below and when you do your first purchase we will both receive £5.
Asda Price Back Guarantee

This is one of my favourites, again it’s money for nothing. If like me you do your weekly food shop at Asda you need to make sure you are using the price back guarantee. All you need to do is keep you till receipt and if you have over 8 products then this will work. Just pop your reference at the bottom of the receipt in to the box and it will compare your shop with Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Waitrose. As Asda say, If we’re not 10% cheaper than Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, or Waitrose on your comparable grocery shop we’ll give you the difference. Guaranteed! It’s as simple as that! Sometimes you get pence back but other times I have had as much as £5 back, every little helps.

Compare The Market

If your Car Insurance, House Insurance or Energy is up for renewal then I would highly reccomend Compare the Market. Why waste your time looking for the best deal when you can put your details in once and then let them do the hard work. All you have to do is sit back and wait for the results to come back which is usually less than a minute. I have always found the best deal this way and as an extra bonus you get a cute meerkat or 2 for 1 movies.

Google

Google is another great tool for saving you money. If I see something on a website I will always check on google first to see if its cheaper or has a deal somewhere else. For example I needed to buy a new buggy for Heidi a couple of weeks ago and found one in Argos and it came to £62 with delivery. I thought it was a good deal but i checked with google first and found the exact same pram for £50 with free delivery from Kiddicare, plus i went through quidco and got cashback, bonus.

52 week Money Challenge

This is something I have just came across and will start next year so it starts from week 1 but then again I suppose you can start it whenever you want. There’s nothing better than setting yourself a little challenge and just think at the end of it you have your christmas present money or money towards a holiday. Another good idea is if you have a credit card or loan then you could use this money to pay off as a lump sum. It’s money you wouldn’t miss each week weres if you had to pay it in one go your would.

To get your children in the habit of saving there is also a children’s challenge I found.

  1. These are some great go to places. I like the sound of the money saving challenge. I love a good challenge as you may know! However, I would love to save money but as I now no longer earn money I am a bit concerned how I'd achieve this alone!! Bit of #triballove…. Linked up at #bigpinklink

  2. Saving money is always a win in my book! Although I sometimes find that I can get so caught up in trying to find something cheaper online that I end up running out of time to order it! 😀 Thanks for linking up with us! #bigpinklink

  3. Those are some wonderful tips! Saving money can be really easy if you just try! I went through & had the prices lowered on all of our bills by calling up & asking. It's worth the bit of time looking into other prices & plans. Thanks so much for linking up with #bloggerclubuk x
